This is a modelled stone balustrade, from the 17th Century. Stone balustrade origins date back to ancient civilisations, and over the centuries it has been re-imagined and reinterpreted in different cultures and architectural styles.
Their primary purpose was to provide safety, preventing people from falling off the edge of stairs or balconies. In addition, ballustrades visually articulate spaces, decorate and enhance the architectural appearance of the building.
This is a 3D model created to fit our 3D scan inventory keeping in mind the historical accuracy where applicable.
